Black 2.0
With his brutal reaction to BRICS, Trump has demonstrated, once again, that he is against the legitimate interests of the global majority.
With his brutal reaction to BRICS, Trump has demonstrated, once again, that he is against the legitimate interests of the global majority. He is a deranged emperor, threatening to set the world on fire. A kind of Nero 2.0.
In reality, BRICS is not "anti-American" or "anti-Western." Especially under the Brazilian presidency, BRICS has demonstrated that it aims only to contribute to the generation of a more multipolar, peaceful, and symmetrical global order, supported by multilateralism.
What angered Trump was the BRICS' support for the creation of a UN Framework Convention on International Taxation and its condemnation of illicit financial flows, tax evasion, and tax havens. The group declared its commitment to progressive tax reform that strengthens social justice and transparency—the complete opposite of what Trump does and proposes.
Above all, Trump was irritated by the fact that BRICS reached an understanding on data governance with national sovereignty, privacy protection, and equitable sharing of the benefits of the data economy. The BRICS document reaffirms support for public digital infrastructure, the fight against cybercrime, and the expansion of sovereign fintechs in the Global South. It is obvious that this goes against the interests of US Big Tech companies.
Trump was also angered by the BRICS, which, following the UN, condemned the aggression against Iran, as well as Netanyahu's war crimes, which followed pronouncements from the International Court of Justice and the ICC.
One thing that BRICS countries do not do is interfere in the internal affairs of other nations and attack their institutions, as Trump did today, attacking Brazilian democracy and its justice system.
Brazil and the group will not bow to the absurd threats of the new Nero.
Those who support Trump support an aggressor against Brazil, democracy, multilateralism, and peace.
He's a traitor. Plain and simple.
