Turkish authorities on Saturday ordered the arrest of 2.745 judges and prosecutors following an attempted military coup, broadcaster NTV reported, as the government continues to punish those suspected of following U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen.

President Tayyip Erdogan stated that Gulen's followers were behind Friday night's coup attempt to oust him from power.

Erdogan said that the cleric, who lives in self-imposed exile in the US, is trying to create a "parallel structure" in the judiciary and the army to try to overthrow the state, which Gulen denies.
