He lies, betrays, steals, and does nothing!

Brazil needs to know what is happening in Goiás. After the relentless persecution of public servants at the Goiás Infrastructure Agency (Goinfra), the agency's president, Pedro Sales, in his tireless fight against facts and truth, is now gratuitously attacking journalist Cileide Alves because of an article published in O Popular. The tactic of attacking the messenger to divert attention from the message is now well-known among the people of Goiás, as it was through this tactic that this group came to power and Sales to Goinfra.

Lies have always been the main weapon of Ronaldo Caiado and his group, as they were used without restraint in the 2018 campaign, and today Caiado still sustains his mediocre government with lies and accusations without proof! Besides lying to the people of Goiás about the real situation of the state, he betrays the people of Goiás, just as he betrays those who supported him in the election campaign. He betrays the voters who believed in the messages of "new politics," when he shamelessly embodies the old politics. He betrays President Bolsonaro when he sees him losing popularity.

But the people of Goiás have already realized the deceit and trickery of this man from Goiás, driven by excessive vanity and hateful persecution of journalists and political opponents. Because of this, his popularity has plummeted. On social media, he is harassed and cannot leave the Palace, where he flaunts lavish breakfasts and parties, for fear of being booed. He is isolated. He has quarreled with public servants, with early allies, with businessmen, and with mayors, whom he neither helps nor engages in dialogue with. He behaves like a dictator and has turned his back on society.

Regarding the highways, the previous government sent a detailed photographic report to members of parliament showing the conditions in which we received the road network in 2011 and how we handed it over in 2018, fully restored.

Now, the highways are in ruins.

Unlike this government, which constantly blames the previous administration to hide its incompetence, the PSDB governments looked to the future, did not shirk their responsibility, and worked hard to build and rebuild highways.

We created the Transportation Fund and the Rodovida Program, instruments that allowed us to rebuild 6 km of highways, pave another 5 km, double 350 km, and illuminate 200 km. The current government erred in paralyzing Goinfra, placing relatives as presidents, and changing its leadership three times in one year. More seriously, it failed to take care of the projects to continue the work begun by the PSDB governments.

The current administration sidelined most of the employees responsible for the previous government's projects; it brought in directors from other states – people who didn't even know where Goiás was. It focused its administration on fabricating evidence and investigations in a desperate attempt to tarnish our administrations.

They found nothing and began to argue with the facts, to the point that Sales ordered the annulment of internal investigation reports for not pointing out any irregularities that would serve his repertoire of accusations without proof. But this did not stop: Sales and other sectors of the government continue to commission "reports" to create factoids that can "substantiate" operations such as that of the Mambaí airport. In that infamous operation, Sales, deliberately and criminally, did not forward the complete process that resulted in that unfounded operation, because he hid the most important fact of the process, which was that the Marconi government identified the possible irregularities in that work and took all the appropriate legal measures in a timely manner to remedy the irregularities and punish any responsible parties. Another media operation of this government was that carried out against the former mayor of Catalão, Jardel Sebba, this one also without concrete facts and without contemporaneity.

In one year and five months, Caiado has done nothing. On the contrary, he dismantled social programs, dismantled the state university, expelled industries from Goiás, ruthlessly persecutes public employees, and defaulted on debts. Even so, not a single brick has been laid in a single municipality. All construction projects are at a standstill. Goiás is going backwards.

The people of Goiás are not naive and have already seen through this strategy. Our valiant Civil Police and the Judiciary will never fall for this tactic of misleading people with unfounded "reports" and accusations. If the works carried out by Agetop were not of good quality and the contracts served to enrich someone, how does Sales explain the reappointment of the entire team that served our government and that was responsible, along with the former board, for everything we did?

The current heads of the Bidding sector, the Maintenance, Road Works, and Management and Planning departments are the same individuals who previously held similar positions at Agetop. They were responsible for bidding processes, contracting, supervising and monitoring the execution of works, as well as validating the quality of services and certifying measurements for payment.

If someone at Agetop became rich, as Sales recklessly claimed, he should point out who did, since this could only have happened through rigged bids and/or the execution of public works. With these statements, is Sales accusing his current team of participating in or being complicit in illegal activities? It's impossible that, in transparent processes like the ones we conduct, anyone could benefit without the complicity and/or participation of the contracting and execution structure. The reality is that our governments saved more than R$ 1,5 billion in contracts.

The inconsistency between Sales and Caiado is so great that, in accusing the previous government, he ends up saying the same against his current team. If these collaborators were dishonest, why were they reappointed and even promoted by the current government? By reappointing, as he did, the competent and honest team we assembled to the positions they hold today, Sales is, in fact, publicly acknowledging the integrity of our work.

We, the people of Goiás, hope that this government will make up for lost time and begin preventive and corrective maintenance on our road network, which has been paralyzed for 18 months. No highway can withstand that. We hope that the Caiado government will resume the countless projects that were halted in early 2019, many with available funding and the state paying interest to the banks.

I have a suggestion: if they really want to talk about honesty, they should ask those in charge in the government they represent to do the same thing they are doing with matters related to the previous government: forward to the police station they created the suspected corruption cases that have arisen since 2019. Was this police station only created to investigate PSDB governments? Ask them to investigate the facts that led to the dismissal of the directors of Codego and Goiás Parcerias; the purchases of coronavirus test kits at SES, hand sanitizer at Seduc, masks by the Prison Agency, and the public notices, suspended by the TCE due to suspicions of favoritism, at Ipasgo, Detran, and Agecom, in addition to the contracting of OSs and the purchase of health supplies, these with federal funds.

But surely Caiado won't order "his police" to investigate anything, because from a governor who betrayed the colleagues who helped elect him, starting with the president of the republic, we can never expect serious actions committed to transparency and honesty!

Goiás and the country are experiencing an unprecedented health crisis. It's sad, but all indications are that the worst of this pandemic is yet to come. And in the post-pandemic period, the challenges will be immense. We will need a true leader to guide our state and enable us to grow again, generate jobs, and create investment opportunities. It is crises like this one that reveal the great and true leaders, and Caiado, with his small and shallow thinking, is letting his opportunity slip away. And if the aforementioned processes are rigorously investigated, the conclusion is that this government lies, betrays, steals, and does nothing!
