Magnitsky, cool is roll. Go suck on a jabuticaba, Trump!

Alexandre de Moraes should receive all the necessary support from organized society against this authoritarian outburst from the US, argues Ricardo Nêggo Tom.

It is estimated that the massive tariffs imposed by Donald Trump on US trading partners have already yielded US$100 billion (R$545 billion) since April, when the tariffs were announced, and could yield US$300 billion (R$1,6 trillion) by the end of the year, according to forecasts from the US Treasury. The US president celebrated the figures during a cabinet meeting held on the 08th, in which he also reportedly signaled possible threats to the BRICS member countries. Among them, additional tariffs and taxes on products exported to the US.

When Trump declared that “any country that aligns with the anti-American policies of BRICS will have to pay an additional 10% tariff and there will be no exceptions to this policy,” he was not only threatening other economies but also exercising US imperialist power to his advantage in trade negotiations. Besides being unusual in international relations, Trump's strategy resembles that of a mobster who runs his country's economy as if he were managing a drug den. This makes geopolitics take on the contours of a war between criminal factions fighting for territory. In Trump's case, he has his eyes on the rare earth resources of other countries.

Brazil has the second-largest reserve of rare earth elements on the planet, second only to China, which dominates the global mineral refining market. This bothers the US, leading Trump to seek alternative sources and target Brazil's subsoil as an option. The country possesses a strategic wealth with the capacity to boost the energy transition and the high-tech industry, making Trump's eyes widen. If we were under Jair Bolsonaro's government at this moment, everything would have already been handed over to Uncle Sam, complete with "I love you" and a salute to the American flag. However, in the middle of all this, there is a president who defends his country's sovereignty and does not surrender to the interests of imperialism. And Lula has already made it clear to Trump that what he wants is readily available, I mean, raw, and if it is to be exploited, it will be done first by Brazil.

In the midst of commercial and geological interests, an interlude emerges: the desperate attempt by Bolsonaro's supporters to grant amnesty to the criminal coup plotters of January 8th, especially the ringleader, and to exclude American big-tech companies from any wrongdoing committed on Brazilian soil. After all, they are the main instruments of the hybrid warfare that imperialism introduced into the country, to politically manipulate the population through the spread of fake news and the enthronement of political figures linked to the interests of the global far-right as saviors of the nation. A methodical villainy embraced with great love and affection by Bolsonaro's supporters, as a way to exercise power at any cost. But in the middle of all this, there is a Supreme Court Justice who is not willing to allow these big-tech companies to continue spreading their nefarious influence in the country, nor to allow the figures instrumentalized by them to exercise their freedom to commit crimes such as the attempted coup of January 8th.

It was necessary to dismantle this barrier called Alexandre de Moraes, who stands as an obstacle to the normalization of lies, violence, and coups against the democratic rule of law in our society. He is the main target to be taken down, even if his destruction harms the country's interests. Trump doesn't care about Bolsonaro, and even less about his son Eduardo, who is in the US acting like a "little bitch" for the US government, believing he has great relevance on the international political scene. Eduardo Bolsonaro is just a traitor, a Judas Iscariot who sells the homeland he swore to love in exchange for forgiveness for the crimes committed by his father and his unlimited gang. A treacherous conspirator who, in times of war, would be condemned to the firing squad for the crime of high treason. A lackey of imperialism looking for a bone with the taste of impunity.

The US offensive against Alexandre de Moraes must be rejected by the Brazilian people and institutions. He deserves all support at this moment because the sanctions imposed on him through the Magnitsky Act are abusive, authoritarian, and criminal, and aim to harm the entire country by imposing the economic power of those who consider themselves the masters of the world. Lula's positions have been assertive, firm, and, above all, diplomatic, in defending our sovereignty and putting Trump in his rightful place: that of President of the USA, not Emperor of the world, as Lula himself has defined him. Blackmail and threats aimed at opening up the political game to the liking of the far-right will not be accepted. For this reason, it is important that the people demonstrate in support of Moraes and in defense of their own survival, which could be irreversibly jeopardized by the return of the far-right to power.

Moraes shouldn't be worried at all about the sanctions imposed, much less about the insane mooing of the herd demanding his head. He won't fall, as Eduardo Bolsonaro predicted, nor will he fail to put his father and the entire gang that tried to overthrow Brazilian democracy in jail, because he will only be doing his job as a minister of the country's supreme court of justice. Bolsonarism is drowning in its own vomit, believing it is savoring revenge with the taste of new wine. When Trump lets go of the traitorous congressman and his coup-plotting and cowardly father, there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth throughout America. The Bolsonaro family, as well as all the Bolsonarists who are fueling this campaign to try to destroy their own country, will have to bury their empty heads underground. Not the rare kind, but the kind where the cat buries what they verbalize as ideology. Magnitsky of cool is roll. We are all Moraes!
