Lula gives us global dignity.

Since yesterday, Brazilian democrats have felt relieved. The country is regaining its self-esteem and its backbone.

Lula took charge of foreign relations by making a historic statement about Israel's genocidal actions in Gaza. The comparison to Adolf Hitler's actions against the Jews is shocking, but it was the least that could be done on the eve of the final attack by the Zionist state's troops on Rafah, in southern Gaza. After rendering an area slightly larger than the Parelheiros neighborhood in São Paulo unviable, murdering 30 Palestinians and wounding or maiming another 70, Tel Aviv's troops seek to complete the ethnic cleansing, using the Hamas attack of October 7th as a pretext.

The President revives the most beautiful initiatives of the world's left by resolutely standing alongside the oppressed, at the same time that the governments of the US and Western Europe are displaying a repugnant spectacle of cowardice and disrespect for human rights to the world.

SOME PEOPLE COMPLAIN: "Nice words, I want to see the action." Calm down, Béti. The words of the head of state of the world's ninth-largest economy are the action. They compel political actors to take a stand, impacting governments, parties, and global public opinion. Here, words are measured by actions!

The circus orchestrated by Foreign Minister Israel Katz, who attempted to publicly humiliate the Brazilian ambassador to that nuclear republic, as Paulo S. Pinheiro aptly described it, received a fitting response. Brazil recalled its representative, a move that indicates a serious diplomatic crisis.

Lula has already warned, through Celso Amorim, that he will not back down, despite pressure from Zionism and the Brazilian right. More than ever, it is necessary to support him. I hope that in the coming hours, his ministers and the representatives of the parties supporting the government will speak out in this regard.

Since yesterday, Brazilian democrats have felt relieved. The country is regaining its self-esteem and its backbone.
