Janot is targeting the PMDB leadership; will Moraes take the blame?

Caught in a recorded conversation, Jucá revealed a "national agreement" to "stop the bleeding" in Lava Jato. The future minister may "take the brunt" of the investigation, given that the PMDB leadership supports him for the lifetime ministerial position. This support should translate into votes during the Senate hearing in three weeks.

The nomination of Justice Minister Alexandre Moraes to replace the late Teori Zavascki on the Supreme Court brings to mind another figure from that highest court: Luiz Fux.

To deceive and win the support of José Dirceu, legend has it in Brasília that Fux allegedly said: "The Mensalão scandal? I'll take the blame," in a typical Rio de Janeiro manner.

Fux was appointed to the Supreme Court in February 2011 by then-President-elect Dilma Rousseff.

However, while in office, Minister Fux voted against the Workers' Party members in every possible way during the Mensalão scandal.

Now it seems history is repeating itself.

Alexandre Moraes is a PSDB member at heart, ideologically, even if he leaves the party.

If the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, has asked the Supreme Federal Court to open an investigation against former President José Sarney, former Transpetro director Sérgio Machado, and PMDB senators Renan Calheiros and Romero Jucá, there is no problem.

Caught in a recorded conversation, Jucá, for example, revealed a "national agreement" to "stop the bleeding" in Lava Jato.

The future minister may "take the bullet" in the investigation, given that the PMDB leadership supports him for the lifetime ministerial position. This support should translate into votes during the Senate confirmation hearing in three weeks.

Or will it just be a "kickabout" with an exchange of passes?
