What is this? It's the Network.

Ultimately, the Rede party is the reaction of our good old urban middle class to a level of inclusion that has begun to eclipse its exclusivism; it's the idea that the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) would have liked to have had.

The Rede party approved a position diametrically opposed to that of PSOL: only votes for Dilma are not allowed.

Ah, how nice it must be to have been born into the middle class - the good old middle class of my time, not the expanded, enlarged, formalized working class with access to new opportunities that they call "Class C";

To be able to put on a clown nose once in a while to complain about the tax burden and the quality of public services, dress up as a black bloc and smash everything, talk about "new" politics and level the entire political class down - except for Marina Silva and Joaquim Barbosa;

I might complain about Brazil when I go to Miami, but I'll also help that super cool project that teaches kids from the favelas how to play drums so they don't embarrass themselves on Regina Casé's show, or that other one that gives great free software training to the children of sanitation workers.

To get together with my white friends to discuss racism and, in doing so, keep my conscience perfectly clear;

Defending the little Indian children, the forest, the little fish, the spotted jaguar, and the furry little rabbit;

Smoking a lot of marijuana in secret from my parents, who I know also smoked marijuana at parties in Maromba and Visconde de Mauá to the sound of Mutantes;

Connecting with nature;

To teach my Neapolitan grandfather the newest terms of political correctness;

To win a ticket to that super cool UN forum about populations affected by the melting polar ice caps, and be able to say what you think about the subject, "the youth of my time";

Realizing that the world keeps turning and that we can no longer remain trapped in a polarization between those who don't sleep and those who don't eat, because all of this, in fact, should be seen from a holistic perspective that considers individuals' perception of their role in society more important than the nomenclature given to the fields in dispute (or not);

Being a member of the Rede party and being able to vote for Aécio against corruption.

Ultimately, the Rede party is the reaction of our good old urban middle class to a level of inclusion that has begun to eclipse its exclusivism; it's the idea that the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) would have liked to have had; it's an improved version of the voteless aggregate, the PPS (Popular Socialist Party); it's a kind of psychological antiseptic film that allows part of the middle class to feel cleaner than the notorious corrupt politicians they vote for, because they do so to defeat the PT (Workers' Party) and change "all that is there"; it's the disqualification of class consciousness; it's an angel whispering to the consciences of those who believe in it: "don't take on the problems of others as your own, because everything is justified under the argument that 'alternation is a sacred principle of democracy', even if the case is one of alternating between antagonistic agendas in relation to everything we claim to defend; even if the alternation is between the old and the people."
