Envy drives Lula's hunters.

The results presented by Lula highlighted the inability of the Brazilian bourgeoisie to govern for those who need it most. And, to fuel the resentment and frustration of the powerful, in any aspect one wishes to compare, the indicators from Lula's eight years in government overwhelmingly surpass those of all the conservatives who have presided over the Republic.

The Brazilian plutocracy and its servants in the media groups and the state apparatus will never accept that a Northeasterner, a working-class man without a college degree, has come so far. As the country's only mass leader, Lula is regarded worldwide as a first-rate statesman. Therefore, his appeal to the UN, which left the Brazilian elite in a bind, became news in more than 50 newspapers around the globe.

Fueled by the media monopoly, the hatred of the country's well-born towards Lula grew vertiginously after his two presidential terms, in which the son of poverty showed more competence than all the doctors who governed Brazil in over 500 years.

This man is therefore a danger to the rich, who know that they will lose yet another election by vote. Desperate, they resort to a sordid persecution, a hunt involving institutions that should prioritize impartiality and equality, but, in a scandalous deviation from their purpose, have become political arms of the plutocracy. This is the case with the Federal Police, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the Judiciary.

To worsen this anti-republican scenario marked by affronts to the system of individual guarantees, the darkest aspects of the human soul come into play. While acknowledging the obvious fact that no one is above the law, who is the first-instance judge Sérgio Moro, a man of admittedly limited intellectual capacity and weak legal background, to disrespect and attack a political leader like Lula, who has rendered significant services to the country and to democracy?

In the Republic of Curitiba, which strictly follows a playbook for fighting corruption in which only members of the Workers' Party are punished, and whenever serious allegations against the right arise, Moro says they are "irrelevant," a task force was created that is a glaring example of violating the rules stipulated in the Constitution.

Judges, prosecutors, and police officers mix promiscuously there. Anyone who finds it natural that the prosecution's role is confused with that of a judge should read a little more about the constitutional role of each institution.

During an interview given a few months ago, after the thousandth phase of Operation Lava Jato, one of the representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office in that task force, whose name I don't remember, only referred to Lula as "Luiz Inácio." For example: "In our opinion, Luiz Inácio is the owner of the property, etc., etc." He spoke to the media with a mocking manner and an air of superiority. As the saying goes, "envy is a bitch."
