Francis Boghossian, an unconventional businessman, an idealist, and a champion of Engineering.

On the 12th, my husband is launching “Francis Bogossian – engineer, professor, businessman, leader”, at the Engineering Club. The book by Francis, my husband of almost 35 years and magnificent father of João Pedro, was an initiative of the board of Geomecânica, founded 50 years ago by him, who is now the chairman of the board.

Organized and edited by Ana Maria Leite Barbosa, the book tells the saga of the nine Bogossian brothers, who came from Armenia fleeing the Turkish massacre of 1915. They traveled on foot, on horseback, and by steamboat until they reached these shores. Francis, the youngest of the first generation born in Brazil, is fully represented in this biography. He has 80 years of unwavering fidelity to his principles, with loyalty as a hallmark of his character – loyal to his childhood friends, his youth, his university days, his engineering school, and his collaborators.

Francis is an unconventional businessman, an idealist, a staunch defender of Brazilian sovereignty and of Engineering, which he classifies as the "lever of development." In numerous articles, he coined the phrase, now widely repeated, "there is no development without engineering, no engineering without development."

Ah! And there's also our love story, written in the stars — a universal conspiracy traced in the palm of our hands, by the grace of amazing chance, unusual coincidences, surprising family ties, things that only "God knows" could explain.
