A fugitive from Brazilian justice since October 2021, the pro-Bolsonaro YouTuber Allan dos Santos, 29, was in charge of the attacks on ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) during their stay in New York (USA) on the Brazilian holiday of November 15, the date of the Proclamation of the Republic.
During the ministers' stay in that city, hosted at the Sofistel Hotel on 44th Street, Santos led the group of Brazilian Bolsonaro supporters who remained outside the hotel daily, from morning to night, awaiting the departure and/or arrival of the delegation, notably ministers Alexandre de Moraes, Ricardo Lewandowski, Gilmar Mendes, and Luís Roberto Barroso.
On Tuesday night (November 15th), a Brazilian who was strolling through New York and coincidentally staying at the same hotel, upon recognizing the fugitive from justice leading the group of Brazilians who were harassing the Supreme Court justices – he was even carrying a megaphone – ended up filming them, while simultaneously provoking them with the shout of “Lula, thief! You stole my heart!”
The protesters were slow to realize that the Brazilian filming them wasn't joining their protest. This provoked Santos, who told the person filming that his (the tourist's) "smile was a whore's reaction."
In addition to protesting against the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the arrest warrant against Santos, confirming a ruling by Moraes, they refuse to recognize the victory of Luis Inácio Lula da Silva in the November 30th election.
The Brazilian who filmed the incident only encountered Bolsonaro supporters when entering or leaving the hotel. However, he heard from another Brazilian journalist that Santos frequented the Sofistel lobby, using the armchairs for a few moments while waiting for the Supreme Court justices. The Brazilian tourist, however, doesn't know if the YouTuber actually came face-to-face with the Supreme Court justices, nor if he was prevented from remaining in the lobby.
According to his account, the Bolsonaro supporters were making noise and prompted increased police presence in front of the hotel. Barriers were erected to keep the building's entrance open. "They were cursing at various people, even those who weren't authorities," he says.
The video was forwarded to the Blog. Marcelo Auler – Reporter with the commitment not to reveal the identity of its author, who does not want to be attacked by the Bolsonaro horde. He fears some kind of persecution. However, it was not he who filmed Minister Barroso responding to the provocateurs with "You lost, fool!". "I didn't have that pleasure," he lamented.
The pro-Bolsonaro YouTuber, identified by the Fake News Parliamentary Inquiry Commission as one of the members of the so-called "Hate Cabinet" commanded by Carlos Bolsonaro, the president's second son, moved to the United States in 2020 (probably in June). There are reports that his residency visa may have expired, which we were unable to confirm. His YouTube channel, Terça Livre, was shut down by a Supreme Court decision after constantly spreading fake news, which only increased Santos's anger towards the ministers.
Although Santos has always denied receiving advertising funds from the Bolsonaro government, according to Wikipedia, a report published by Patricia Campos MelloIn 2020, it was demonstrated that he effectively received public funds through Google Ads, with 1147 ads registered for the advertising campaign for the pension reform, funded by the federal government, on the channel of Youtube Terça Livre. The amount reported by Google was very small, less than 10 reais, although it only referred to a very limited period of 7 days in June and 10 days in August 2019.
