The nightmare is over.

Finally, the nightmare is over. It's time to rebuild.
In an apotheotic display, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ascended the ramp of the Palácio do Planalto accompanied by the genuine and unparalleled union of ethnicities, cultures, and colors; in other words, our greatest wealth, which is our diversity, the Brazilian people.
Instead of the grotesque, the machismo, the indifference, the ignorance, the hatred, the hypocrisy – regardless of whether one was a supporter of the Workers' Party or from the progressive camp – there, speaking from the balcony of the Palace to a crowd, one saw humanity, relief, and hope.
The sordid years of inhumanity, where aggression, contempt for humanity, and ignorance prevailed, cowardly fled to Uncle Sam's land, just as rats flee shipwrecks.
Then the sun came out, illuminating the years of obscurantism: the people danced, sang, felt the emotion, and Brazil returned; we finally awoke from the nightmare.
Even in the face of the devastation, the Herculean challenge of national reconstruction, and the longing and outrage over the nearly 700 deaths in the pandemic, yesterday was a day of jubilation and joy.
A new era, a fresh start! And let us not forget the bitter lessons.
The warning that history imposes on Brazil is to not hesitate to succumb to the allure of the savior of the nation, to reject politics, to avoid the dangerous and stupid vacillation with our young democracy, to walk between abysses, and to embrace the class hatred that almost led us to barbarism.
More than just restoring social programs, hope, and our businesses, and ending hunger and poverty, it is urgent to decisively confront class prejudice and its struggles.
Those people who ascended the ramp in such a sublime manner are the great target of hatred and infamy for our elites. They are the preferred target that brought Bolsonaro to power and to the destruction of Brazil.
These people are denied: healthcare, education, employment, retirement, citizenship. But it is these people who helped save Brazil, and who bravely defeated fascism.
No amnesty and no deals. A law that takes care of everyone's share and responsibility, so that we can move forward and never again go through this terrible nightmare.
Long live humanity!
May hope and social justice last forever, as does democracy.
