It became obvious that Bolsonaro was hiding and protecting Queiroz.
"The cell phones seized from Queiroz could bring even more compromising revelations for the criminal organization investigated by the Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecutor's Office. Bolsonaro's continued presidency of Brazil has become even more untenable," assesses Jeferson Miola.
For decades, since the 1980s, Queiroz has been a close friend and barbecue and fishing partner of Jair Bolsonaro. He enjoys the intimacy and trust of the clan.
Even before being discovered and covered up in Operation Furna da Onça in October 2018, Queiroz acted as a kind of manager for the criminal businesses of the FaMilícia in politics.
Queiroz is also the link between the clan and the Escritório do Crime (Office of Crime), the militia of hired assassins in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro dedicated to land grabbing and illegal real estate exploitation, commanded by the militia member Adriano da Nóbrega – whose wife and mother were employed in the office of then-state deputy Flávio Bolsonaro in the ALERJ (Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro).
Bolsonaro's fierce protection of his sons in the face of police and judicial pressure transcends what could be considered a display of fervent paternal love.
It's even possible that Bolsonaro is acting on some instinct to protect his children; but such protection is, above all, an act of self-defense and self-protection, because Bolsonaro is the supreme head of the clan. If his children are affected, the investigations will inevitably lead to him, Jair.
Bolsonaro is the ideologue of the family-run organization in politics and crime. He planned the political career of each member of the clan. He even went so far as to use Carlos, "Zero 2," to unseat his ex-wife Rogéria from her position as a city councilor in Rio.
And it was Jair who appointed his accomplice Queiroz to Flávio's office, the "Zero One," at ALERJ, where the now former fugitive worked for almost 20 years, from 2002 to 2018, and from where he managed the "treasury" of the clan's parliamentary offices and acted as an interface with the militia underworld.
Bolsonaro never abandoned Fabrício Queiroz, not at any point. During his illness, Queiroz was comforted with treatment at the extremely expensive Albert Einstein hospital, whose millionaire expenses were paid in cash – it is not known who paid the hospital bill, although one can speculate who the patron [or Messiah] was.
The discovery of Queiroz's hideout in a property owned by the clan's lawyer, Frederick Wassef, makes it obvious that it was Bolsonaro who was hiding and protecting Queiroz.
Last April 28th, Frederick Wassef stated in an interview:I am here every day with the president and the Bolsonaro family. I know everything that goes on within the Bolsonaro family.".
The situation of the lawyer, who obstructed justice and was complicit with the Bolsonaros in covering up Queiroz's escape, is a separate chapter; he will have to deal with the police and the justice system, he's entangled along with the clan.
The essential point to consider, therefore, is the fact that Queiroz has been hiding for over a year in a property belonging to this lawyer who is…in everyday life with the familyand who knowseverything that goes on in the Bolsonaro family".
The cell phones seized from Queiroz could bring even more compromising revelations for the criminal organization investigated by the Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecutor's Office. Bolsonaro's continued presidency of Brazil has become even more untenable. If the institutions were truly "functioning normally," it would be the end of the line for official banditry.
