I am willing to have a face-to-face confrontation with Aécio Neves.

I was thoroughly investigated and never opposed any investigation. Now it's your turn, Aécio. Why don't you make yourself available to the justice system?

Or as the miners would say: “stop, Aécio, stop!”. On the defensive, Senator Aécio Neves is once again trying to discredit the Furnas List, which places him at the center of Operation Lava Jato, based on Alberto Youssef's testimony. Let's recall the script of the process of recognizing the authenticity of the List:

DOCUMENT EXAMINATION REPORT (mechanical and graphological) No. 1097/2006, prepared by the National Institute of Criminalistics (INC), of the Technical-Scientific Directorate, of the Federal Police Department, Ministry of Justice. In this report, the team of experts analyzed the original document called the Furnas List, concluding that there was no fabrication, fraud, or any other type of manipulation.

The presenter of the original document, Mr. Nilton Monteiro, was sued by Congressman José Carlos Aleluia (DEM-BA) in 2006. In 2009, he was unanimously acquitted by the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais, in a ruling delivered by then-judge Maria Luiza de Marilac Alvarenga Araújo (now a judge of the Court of Appeals). The reason for dismissing Congressman Aleluia's lawsuit is written there: the list is authentic.

On January 25, 2012, federal prosecutor Andrea Bayão (MPF-RJ) filed charges against several operators of the "Furnas scheme" during the FHC administration. It is no coincidence that the companies Bauruense and Toshiba, mentioned by Youssef, along with the name of Andréa Neves, were among those charged in the bribery scheme that allegedly benefited the PSDB senator. Dimas Toledo, indicted by the MPF in this action, was appointed to the Furnas board by Aécio Neves. Youssef mentions a director who was allegedly sponsored by the PP and Aécio: it can only be him.

Let's remember that the PSDB National Directorate hired an American expert, Larry F. Stewart, for R$ 200.000,00, to produce a report on photocopies of the Furnas List. Two blunders. First, using photocopies to disqualify the authenticity of the original list. Second, hiring an expert who had already been caught red-handed in a US court, precisely for perjury regarding the authenticity of documents in other cases.

The PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) state directorate attempted to revoke my mandate, requesting the State Public Prosecutor's Office to open an inquiry to investigate whether I had participated in the alleged falsification of the infamous Furnas List and whether I had used the structure of my parliamentary office for this purpose. An inquiry was opened by Dr. Raquel Pacheco Ribeiro Souza to investigate the PSDB's complaint. They failed. The MPMG (Minas Gerais State Public Prosecutor's Office), even after exhaustive investigations submitted to its Superior Council, considered that there was no justification for "continuing the investigations, nor for filing a Public Civil Action" against me, thus requiring the "archiving" of the opened inquiry. The reasons: the Furnas List was authentic, even being used to exonerate Nilton Monteiro in another case and had the endorsement of the INC (National Institute of Criminalistics) of the Federal Police; and, after examining the use of my office funds, no participation on my part in acts of administrative misconduct was proven. The MPMG's decision follows in PDF.

Finally, I understand Senator Aécio Neves' desperation. Any reader can verify the above information using any internet search engine with the appropriate keywords. Since 2011, Aécio Neves has been trying to revoke my parliamentary mandate and persecutes those who dared to denounce him, such as Nilton Monteiro and Marco Aurélio Carone, who were even illegally imprisoned to prevent them from interfering with his campaign. I have been thoroughly investigated and have never opposed any investigation. Now it's your turn, Aécio. Why don't you make yourself available to the justice system? I am available to go to the Senate and have a face-to-face confrontation with you. That is much more substantial than sending untruthful statements to newspapers!
