#DictatorshipNeverAgain is #OutWithBolsonaro

Some claim Bolsonaro is a psychopath, but psychopaths have the right to treatment. However, Bolsonaro is a criminal, an idol and protector of militiamen, and criminals simply need the law to catch up with them and offer them a period in prison to be rehabilitated for social reintegration, without haste.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Perhaps we could be reflecting on the kind of life we can have and should strive for when social distancing ends, but the coup-installed president has crossed all boundaries, and in the midst of the pandemic and the need for social distancing and isolation, he attended a demonstration calling for the end of democracy, the closure of Congress and the Supreme Court.

Bolsonaro presented himself for what he is: a scoundrel, a far-right populist, and willing to break with the constitution he swore to defend, as he supported a public act calling for the end of freedoms and democracy.

Some claim that Bolsonaro is a psychopath, but psychopaths have the right to treatment. However, Bolsonaro is a criminal, an idol and protector of militiamen, and criminals only need the law to reach them and offer them a period in prison to be rehabilitated for social reintegration, without haste.

For me, the big question is: where are our leaders? Where are the democrats from the right, center, and left who, supported by the people, can put an end to the insanity and mockery of this thug occupying the Presidential Palace? They are stunned, without a unifying discourse or attitude, incapable of sitting at the same table and establishing the necessary measures.

When they attack the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), they are attacking democracy; when they attack Congress, they are attacking democracy; when they attack the Supreme Federal Court (STF), they are attacking democracy.

And what is needed? The defense of democracy and the removal of the criminal from the Presidency of the Republic; everything else is just window dressing.

An example of the stupidity and inaction of progressive leaders is the lack of measures taken regarding the attacks that journalists, especially those from Globo network, have been suffering. Instead of mobilizing the institutions—police, public prosecutor's office, and judiciary—some prefer to politicize the safety of professionals and attack the company "that doesn't defend its employees." Well, if there is negligence on the part of the company, the path is the same: police, public prosecutor's office, and judiciary.

And what about Bolsonarism? Well, the German press best defines these naive and despicable people, saying that Bolsonarism is a sect that is dragging Brazil towards the abyss. An editorial in the German news agency Deutsche Welle says that...The typical Bolsonaro supporter is like someone driving the wrong way on the highway, hearing on the radio that there's another driver going the wrong way, and then shouting: 'The media is lying! It's not one driver, it's thousands!'".

A Politics It is not an end in itself, it is an instrument for building the common good, it is a necessary path, it is a journey in which we share experiences with countless fellow travelers; its practice requires dialogue and the construction of paths of peace and consensus for social and economic progress.

In politics, friends are like travel companions; they go with us only up to a certain point. And at this moment, as in 1984, we need many travel companions to overcome the barbarity that Bolsonarism represents so that, after democracy is restored and institutions are strengthened, each one can go their own way.

What I expect from democrats is an attitude within the institutional framework; impactful phrases on social media only bring them closer to Bolsonaro's method of speaking to his supporters.

It's time for unity and action, therefore: #NeverAgainToDictatorship is #OutWithBolsonaro
