Congress X Workers
The current Congress is once again conspiring against national interests, but this time directly against the interests of the people.
In a recent period of our history, when we witnessed Congress acting against the direct interests of the country and indirectly against the population, we saw President Dilma Rousseff unjustly removed from office.
Members of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, with the support of the House of Justice, the highest body of the judiciary and guardian of the Federal Constitution, joined forces "with the Supreme Court, with everything," and paved the way for fascism to advance.
The current Congress, tainted by the fascist wave, is once again conspiring against national interests, but this time directly against the interests of the population. The immediate objective is not to oppose sovereignty, but to weaken a giant organically fueled by the masses.
The difference between the periods is that now, despite most of the same figures being repeated, the Supreme Court is fulfilling its constitutional functions and does not want to be an ingredient in... Devil's pot.
Even considering the obvious absurdity, Lula was right to appeal to the Supreme Court against the overturning of the IOF – Tax on Financial Operations – in order to balance public accounts and meet this year's fiscal target.
Congress and the opposition media are trying to terrify the population with the increase, but they are hiding the fact that the IOF (Tax on Financial Transactions) will apply to international purchases made with credit and debit cards, international prepaid cards, traveler's checks, and remittances abroad, meaning it will not harm workers.
Fifteen months before the elections, the far-right congressionalists see their idol, a piece of clay, dying 'literally' – as his son 02 put it – in the public square, and they circle him like vultures to get a piece of his electoral spoils.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, #HugoDoesntCare, is left to reflect on whether it's worth leading this unconstitutional journey and becoming the villain. It seems so.
What pressure was it that transformed a Sunday of agreements and camaraderie into a Tuesday of betrayal and breach of those agreements?
When will Hugo Motta return Minister Fernando Haddad's phone call? Silence is the confession that precedes defeat. Now it's the people's turn!
