Bolsonaro has been indicted. Now what?
Now we have to do politics...
I have answered the question:Bolsonaro has been indicted. Now what? In the following way: since we live in a democracy and since the democratic rule of law has not been appropriated by a handful of traitors to democracy, the former president and each of those denounced by the Attorney General of the Republic will have the right to a full defense and due process will be respected.
Bolsonaro is no longer a player in politics – he is a police case and a problem for the Brazilian judicial system – but Bolsonarism and other groups on the far-right spectrum are still here and will give trouble to those of us who do not salute the flags of other countries and who believe in diversity, respect, and democracy.
It's interesting to see devotees of the former president denying the attempted coup d'état, when his lawyer doesn't deny the attempt, but says Bolsonaro didn't participate in it; I'm not delusional, because the great lawyer Celso Vilardi, who represents Bolsonaro, said last week to CNN that the former president…did not participate and did not give approval."to a coup d'état plan, that is, it acknowledges that an attempted coup d'état occurred."
This is why I ask Bolsonaro supporters to stop sending me defenses via WhatsApp that Bolsonaro himself has abandoned; having participated in the coup plot, the former president now denies involvement and turns his back on his comrades, including General Braga Neto, his colleague on the defeated ticket.
Bolsonarism, supported by Olavism, represents the negation of politics and, what is worse, we will have to live with these people for about thirty years, starting in 2013; since the marches of June of that year, the extreme right has grown, it already reached the presidency in 2018, with the help of Moro and the TRF4, and won the elections in 2020, 2022 (except for the presidency), 2024 and should sweep the 2026 elections, except for the presidency of the republic, after all, Lula remains the favorite, despite the attacks he suffers and coordinating a government full of ideological contradictions, with ministers who are not from the left to the Bolsonarist right.
We need to leave Bolsonaro to the justice system and focus on politics.
I believe that Politics – with a capital “P”, a word derived from the Greek “politeia”, which indicates all procedures relating to polisThe Greek city-state, by extension, also means "city-state," society, community, collectivity, and other terms related to urban life – this is irrelevant to Bolsonaro or Bolsonarism, since we now know that he does not actually believe in it or practice it, so much so that he was denounced for attempted coup d'état, among other crimes against democracy, against the powers that be, against the institutions, and even against those who voted for him.
In many articles, here on 247 or in other portals and newspapers, I have argued, more than once, that Bolsonaro is a delinquent who should already be in prison, to guarantee public order, for the convenience of the criminal investigation, or to ensure the application of criminal law; the former president is a troublemaker, he represents a type of politics that negates Politics as I believe its valid development is possible and necessary.
His imprisonment, I repeat, is necessary, but the most important thing is that we get back to doing politics; that PDT, PT, PSB, PCdoB, REDE, PV, PCB, and even the parties that identify as left-wing and live in parallel worlds, like PCO and PCBR, among others, understand the urgency of seeking unity so that we can reduce the losses, which I consider inevitable, in 2026, 2028, and 2030, and believe me, as I have written here more than once: the government can do a lot, but it can't do everything; Lula can do a lot, but he can't do everything; it's time for the parties to start thinking about something other than their own navels.
These are the reflections.
