Human institutions and faith
"Catholics must distance themselves from lies, understand the difference between faith and institution, and wish the Pope good health to continue his legacy."
I heard from a cousin, the son of one of my mother's sisters, that Pope Francis is a communist. He even said that Francis is "destroying" the Church and, to prove what he said, he took out his cell phone and showed me several WhatsApp messages, saved by him, that linked the Pope to the devil, to communism, to all sorts of bad things...
It was sad to hear such nonsense, I felt challenged, I ordered another coffee and a piece of cake from my aunt and switched to rational argument (I still believe in truth as an essential weapon to overcome lies and conflicting accounts).
Come on.
I often say that my "favorite Popes" are John XXIII and Francis. Today, I'm going to talk a little about them and other Popes of the 20th and 21st centuries, to try to explain the difference between human structures and faith.
JOHN XXIII John XXIII was born near Bergamo in 1881 into a peasant family, and this son of peasants called for, against everything and against everyoneThe Second Vatican Council removed harsh expressions concerning Jews from the liturgy and inaugurated a new era of Jewish-Catholic relations and dialogue. The Second Vatican Council, as he stated, was born "by an unexpected inspiration of the Holy Spirit"It sought the regeneration of the Church through the updating of doctrine, discipline, and organization; observers and representatives from eighteen non-Christian Churches were present at the opening of the council; it granted the use of the local language to churches."
His encyclicals have a more pastoral than dogmatic character. “Mater et Magistra” (1961) exhorted richer nations to help poorer ones, and “Pacem in Terris” (1963) explains that the recognition of human rights and duties is the foundation of world peace (both encyclicals were presented to me by sociology professor Francisco Rossi in 1982 at PUC Campinas).
Unfortunately, the Second Vatican Council did not achieve all the objectives that John XXIII, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, sought, because, in addition to his death, within the bureaucracy of the Holy See there are conservatives and false shepherds, eager to maintain their privileges.
PAUL VI - It is worth noting that Paul VI, who succeeded him, courageously confronted the false shepherds who wanted the Council to be dissolved without conclusion and without proposing or implementing changes after the death of John XXIII.
Paul VI continued the council.
JOHN PAUL I – Paul VI was succeeded by the "Smiling Pope," John Paul I, who was elected to "obey" the conservatives, but he proved to be a pastor committed to the Gospel and promised "To rub salt in the wound of the Curia: the Vatican Bank. However, he was unable to begin the work because, in addition to the Roman Curia being against any investigation, he died, declared dead from a heart attack, just 33 days after his election. British journalist David Yallop published the work "In the name of God (In God's Name), in which he offers clues about a possible conspiracy to kill John Paul I. Other investigative works also raise the poisoning theory: the book “El día de la cuenta” According to the Spanish priest Jesus López Sáez, the Pope was poisoned.
Born into a working-class family and with a socialist father, Albino Luciani, as Pope John Paul I was known, had no place in the Roman Curia, a place where evil is present.
Yallop further insinuated that John Paul II was complicit in all the irregularities, that he maintained the privileges of the Roman Curia, and that he used dirty money from the Vatican Bank for his anti-communist campaign.
John Paul II Without concern for the corruption of the Vatican Bank, the privileges of the Roman Curia, or the Church's necessary preference for the poor, his papacy had an eminently political, anti-communist, and conservative character, and sought to reverse, with the help of Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger, the advances of the Second Vatican Council.
After the long papacy of John Paul II, the ultraconservative Cardinal Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger was elected to the throne of Peter.
BENEDICT XVI Ratzinger, an intellectual without charisma or connection to the realities of the world, was chosen, but he lacked the strength to confront Vatileaks (the name given to a scandal involving leaked secret documents from the Vatican that revealed a vast network of corruption, nepotism, and favoritism).
Benedict XVI, who throughout his life was a scholar and a conservative intellectual, was not prepared to face this reality, nor to confront the bureaucracy of the Roman Curia and fight against corruption, so he resigned, and the Argentinian Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected.
Francisco - Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected and has been working with all his might to moralize the institutions, especially the Vatican Bank; however, he faces immense resistance in the upper echelons of the Catholic Church to implement his philosophy of greater frugality and austerity in spending.
Pope Francis fills squares, but he's not very popular among some high-ranking religious figures. Curia bureaucrats sabotage the reforms the Pope wants to make and fuel a network of slander against him on social media.
This is my point of view, this is the information I bring, the result of in-depth study.
For these reasons, I believe that all Roman Catholic Christians, like myself and my cousin, should distance themselves from the wickedness and lies of bureaucrats and social media, understand that there is a difference between institutionalism and faith, and wish Pope Francis good health, because the work begun by John XXIII is unfinished and, should the election of another Pope be necessary, may he, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, present us with someone with the courage needed to continue the pastoral work and leadership of John XXIII, John Paul I, and Francis.
These are the reflections.
