We have learned to resist, now we must rebuild from the rubble.

"May 2023 be the year of our political alchemy," wishes Marcia Tiburi.

We can go back to 2013, the year the fascist wound opened, or 2014, the year of Dilma Rousseff's narrow victory over an opponent who didn't know how to lose, betrayed democracy, and was destined for insignificance.

We can go back to 2015 when resistance meant saying "there will be no coup," or 2016, the year of the misogynistic, media-driven state front paving the way for fascism, the year Bolsonaro wasn't arrested after his speech in favor of a torturer. 2017 was the year of attacks on artists, 2018 the year of the consolidation of disinformation and fake news, the year of Marielle Franco's assassination and the interrupted investigations to prevent the masterminds from being discovered.

In January 2019, weapons were legalized with the aim of fueling more hatred in the population and encouraging their industry and trade. The Brazil of educational misery has since become the Brazil of shooting clubs.

In 2020 and 2021, the genocide of Indigenous peoples and the Black, poor, and marginalized population was confirmed during the pandemic, which was used by the government to kill those deemed undesirable. The abandonment and death of elderly people was part of this.

A major achievement of the fascist government was to put the country back on the map of social and economic inequality, placing it once again amidst hunger. Accelerating deforestation and the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and other biomes was also part of the plan. The killing of women also increased, demonstrating that femicide is a constant companion to fascism.

The year 2022 was one of confronting both diabolical and banal evil.

Every defender of democracy has been threatened, and several have died, including those murdered by psychopaths in the throes of their delusional ideological reasoning.

In 2023, we need to learn to look at the rubble of the destructive project that went so far in its achievements, so that it does not repeat itself. The inventory of the catastrophe is gigantic. In the face of all this, we resist!

We are a people beyond the fascistized masses and against the government of hate!

Love is the energy that drives democracy. May its spirit propel us forward in 2023.

A national project is built with a democratic government and with the political awareness of each individual.

May 2023 be the year of our political alchemy.

May we be strong enough to spread compassion and awareness.

May 2023 be filled with love, happiness, and justice for everyone!
