Amnesty
Currently, these remnants of barbarity, hatred, and false moralism are emerging throughout the country, above all and everyone who has stooped to that level.
A yellow light of terror was turned on by the Truth Commission's revelations.
In Germany, Nazi criminals were brought to justice at the Nuremberg trials. Göring and Ley committed suicide. Hess feigned amnesia and eventually confessed to the deception. In the Argentine dictatorship, generals like Videla, Massera, Viola, and others were duly imprisoned. In the US, Steve Bannon, Trump's advisor and influencer of the international far-right, is already in prison. Criminal proceedings are underway against the invaders of the American Congress, whose violence left four dead and others injured. Trump, who incited the mob against the elections there, is also a defendant.
In Brazil, during the democratic opening, negotiations began to grant amnesty to torturers and criminals from its dungeons. However, in 2012, the Truth Commission was established, which terrified old scoundrels; the report indicated that, from 1964 to 1985, there were 191 deaths and 243 "disappearances." This fear was also evident in some slave owners at the time of the Abolition of Slavery in 1888, who feared the revolt of the freed slaves, like the Malês Revolt. In Brazil, at every moment, the victim or the poor person has to prove that they are not vengeful. Lower their head, close their eyes cordially, pretend, fall ill? A proud Black Consciousness is the responsibility of all of us Brazilians, white and black. Without justice, reparation, and civility, fear and threats will obstruct our paths.
The shouts and cheers from the impeachment vote, and on national television, against Dilma's torturer, still reverberate. This blatant glorification of Colonel Ustra and his crimes failed to frighten the president. Imprisoned during the dictatorship and assaulted by that coward, who managed to remove nothing but her teeth, Dilma, deposed from office, prophesied: "The coup will indiscriminately target any progressive and democratic political organization."
The opposition had been left without space under the successive PT administrations. With the impeachment, the opposition saw a chance to return to power without the inconvenience of the left. They distributed pamphlets to orchestrate the coup, targeting Dilma with the false accusation of "fiscal irresponsibility." Even though the label of dishonest president didn't stick to her, in any way, they defamed her as a poor manager.
Currently, these paragons of barbarity, hatred, and false moralism are emerging throughout the country, above all and everyone who has stooped to this level. They demand a lifetime Senate seat from the president, as was done for Pinochet in Chile, and, once again, amnesty, while criminals are treated with courtesy and steak on sidewalks, only to publicly kidnap citizens on highways and vandalize their vehicles.
After the 2016 coup, the opposition collapsed in Congress and in the states. The democratic attempt was to rebuild with the leader from the times of the Diretas Já movement and the wage freezes of the dictatorship. An undisputed negotiator from the factory gates and now a world leader. Lasting leadership cannot be achieved without legitimate causes. Dilma concluded in her last speech: we will return!
