André Ceciliano is appointed by Minister Gleisi to the position of liaison with Congress.
'The former president of the Rio de Janeiro Legislative Assembly will now occupy the Special Secretariat for Parliamentary Affairs,' writes journalist Denise Assis.
The name chosen by Gleisi Hoffmann to negotiate with deputies and senators in Congress is André Ceciliano, former president of the Legislative Assembly of Rio, and former Special Secretary for Federal Affairs, subordinate to the SRI (Institutional Relations Office) of Alexandre Padilha, who left the position to take over the Health portfolio. Ceciliano will now occupy the Special Secretariat for Parliamentary Affairs, where former federal deputy from São Paulo, Valmir Prascidelli, was stationed.
With Padilha's departure, Ceciliano submitted his resignation. They had just jointly organized the national meeting of mayors, which brought together more than three thousand mayors and secretaries from across the country in Brasília. The event was considered a success by President Lula.
Ceciliano's previous position put him in contact with mayors and governors who considered him very skilled in dealing with people and quick to coordinate agendas and requests. This profile, acquired in his daily work at the Rio de Janeiro State Legislative Assembly (Alerj), qualified him for the position he now assumes in the office of Minister Gleisi Hoffmann. Nominated by President Lula to replace Alexandre Padilha as Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi will now count on André Ceciliano who, in addition to his good rapport with mayors and governors, is very well-liked by Lula, to whom he has direct access.
