Alzheimer's in the PT
In politics, many suffer from this affliction, and it seems that some members of the PT (Workers' Party) have acquired this disease by targeting Ciro Gomes as an adversary to their ambitions.
One of the main symptoms of Alzheimer's is memory loss. It is a serious illness with very serious consequences for those who suffer from this pathology.
In politics, many suffer from this affliction, and it seems that some members of the PT (Workers' Party) have acquired this disease by targeting Ciro Gomes as an adversary to their ambitions. The orchestrated process of discrediting Ciro Gomes, carried out by groups within the PT, serves exclusively the interests of our elites currently in power.
They forget a very recent past, the unwavering loyalty of Ciro Gomes in defending democratic principles and the mandate of President Dilma Rousseff. They confuse loyalty with submission and forget who, in fact, betrayed Brazilian society and played the perverse role of Joaquim Silvério dos Reis.
It is undeniable that Ciro Gomes is devoid of national hypocrisy, and it is indisputable that his statements are strong, yet true.
An indelible event is Ciro Gomes' recognition of Lula's services to the country, just as it is a setback to see the narrative of persecution against Lula after Antonio Palocci's statements, even though he presented no evidence. It is audacious to conjecture that a party with the history of the PDT and of Laborism has no project for Brazil and cannot aspire to contest the 2018 elections with its own candidate.
Unreasonable inferences offend the political memory of Brazil and of the Labor movement, which includes among its ranks names such as Getúlio Vargas, João Goulart, Leonel Brizola, Darcy Ribeiro, among so many others, who qualify us to guide the destiny of our nation.
It's contradictory to attack Ciro Gomes while embracing Renan Calheiros, Romero Jucá, and José Sarney, legitimate representatives of our old oligarchies and appendages, and the orchestrators of the coup that ousted the PT from the presidency.
These comrades are reminded that we need a national project, not a power grab, and that history has already provided abundant lessons regarding the highest level of pride.
The true enemies of the Brazilian people are our ruling classes, devoid of patriotic sentiment, the dismantling of social rights, and the indiscriminate surrender of our patrimony.
"One cannot crow to the left and lay eggs on the right," as Leonel Brizola used to say; after all, it's not advisable to put on the overalls and clogs of the old UDN again.
