Some thoughts on Campos Neto's interview on Roda Viva.

"Nervous and insecure. He grew up as both a victim and a defender of the BC's so-called SOCIAL program throughout the interview!", writes José Luís Oreiro.

I didn't watch yesterday's interview with Campos Neto on Roda Viva, but some economists I spoke to today had the following impressions:

Economist 1: Regarding the interview with the president of the Central Bank of Brazil yesterday on Roda Viva. He started nervously, but managed to defend the thesis of the institution's autonomy relatively well, always using the theoretical argument of credibility. However, he never managed to explain (he equivocated, went around in circles, but didn't answer) why Brazil has the highest real interest rate in the world. That is the central point.

Economist 2: In my opinion, he didn't use credible theoretical arguments to defend the Central Bank's autonomy. He hid behind those arguments to cover up his insecurity. He's merely a technocrat, lacking political savvy. He'd fit perfectly in a technical advisory role, not as president of the Central Bank.

Economist 3: Nervous and insecure (the paper in hand betrays him). He emerged as both a victim and a defender of the Central Bank's so-called SOCIAL program throughout the interview!
