Abin parallel: puppet general?
"It is necessary to deepen the investigations and provide satisfaction to the society that has just resisted an attempted coup d'état," writes Kakay.
On a flight from Seville to Paris, I read, horrified, Minister Alexandre de Moraes's ruling on the "parallel ABIN" (Brazilian Intelligence Agency). The investigation concerns a network protecting President Bolsonaro's sons, attempts to forge false and criminal links between Supreme Court Justices and the PCC (First Command of the Capital), illegal monitoring of Ministers, Parliamentarians, and citizens—in short, a criminal organization that has seized control of the State. Much of what we heard about the structured banditry within the Bolsonaro government is exposed in the Public Prosecutor's statement and in His Excellency the Supreme Court Justice's decision.
This is a serious moment in the consolidation of democracy. The measures, however vigorous, taken by the Supreme Court Justice do not seem sufficient to contain the true coup-mongering that still appears to be coordinating this terrorist group.
It is necessary to deepen the investigations—I am not saying that this is not being done—into the general who coordinated ABIN (Brazilian Intelligence Agency). Is it possible to imagine such a serious web of insurrection without the knowledge of General Augusto Heleno? After all, he claimed to be so attentive and protective of his power. Was he a figurehead general? A puppet? Did everything so serious happen right under his nose without his knowledge? What kind of general is this who dishonors the Brazilian army with such brutal incompetence? Was he unaware of everything? Either he presents himself as an assistant prosecutor or he will leave the army in a very bad state.
It is necessary to deepen the investigations and provide satisfaction to the society that has just resisted an attempted coup d'état. Once again, the Judiciary, generally patrimonialist and reactionary, assumes responsibility for democratic stability. It is urgent that Congress speak out because, apparently, parliamentarians were criminally investigated. And all of us, citizens who have united for the consolidation of democracy, must follow and demand an investigation into this scandal. Democracy remains at risk. Especially since there is a shadow to be lifted regarding a certain group within the current government having worked to prevent the crimes from being clarified. Serious!
