The role of language in the construction of Bolsonaro's self-deception.
It is up to us to unmask the hypocrisy of Bolsonaro supporters in their attempt to soothe their conscience in the face of the atrocities induced by their evil practices.
The Brazilian people are experiencing a crucial moment in the history of all humanity. The future of the struggles unfolding in our country will also be, to a great extent, decisive for the outcome of the global fight against the resurgence of Nazism.
An analysis of the historical evolution of capitalism shows us that fascism is one of the extreme measures to which the forces of big capital resort in their attempts to annihilate popular resistance during periods of serious existential crises for this system of social exploitation. The peculiarities adopted by fascism vary according to the specificities present in each people, region, or moment in which it appears.
In present-day Brazil, due to its pronounced racist character, fascism presents itself with a facet more aligned with Hitler's Nazism than with the Mussolini-inspired version with which it emerged in Italy. And, we must say it without subterfuge, in our Brazilian lands, Nazism has incorporated itself, adopting the typical forms of Bolsonarism. To leave no doubt, Bolsonarism is, indeed, the form with which the most extreme ideological current of big capital has imposed itself on Brazilian soil. Therefore, for all practical purposes, a Bolsonarist can and should be equated with a Nazi.
However, similarly to what happened when the movement led by Adolf Hitler began to gain traction in Germany, it is the virulent inoculation of a blind and morbid hatred against certain human groups that also sets the tone for the agglutination of the forces of Bolsonaro's corrupt regime in Brazil. Here, the legacy of colonialism has accentuated class hatred by perfectly coupling it with racial hatred, since, among us, being poor and being black are almost synonymous.
The pillars of Bolsonaro's ideology, like those of its German inspiration, are not based on truth. However, the essence of its deceitful existence is never admitted. In contrast to its main effective characteristics, Bolsonarism often adopts words and explanations entirely opposed to the practical objectives it tenaciously pursues. In other words, hypocrisy permeates, guides, and prevails in everything concerning Bolsonarism. To better express this phenomenon, let's briefly touch upon some of the main points of this nefarious way of seeing and feeling the world.
Admittedly, Bolsonaro supporters are among the greatest sellouts our country has ever produced. They all hate the mere possibility of Brazil becoming a free, independent, and sovereign nation. According to them, our country and our people should remain entirely subjugated to the dominion and interests of the great powers of Western capitalism, especially the United States. Surpassing even the designs of Donald Trump, Bolsonaro supporters cultivate the idea of "America First" without reservation. The exclusive use of the term "America" in reference to the United States is another point that reinforces the level of their ideological submission to their American mentors.
Thus, it has become commonplace in the Bolsonaro administration to wear the yellow jersey of the national team, sing the national anthem, and shout praises to our homeland, while oil and our main natural resources are being handed over to foreign capitalist groups.
Despite being notorious for their high degree of depravity, beginning with their most prominent figure, and for their lack of regard for morality or ethics, Bolsonaro supporters like to present themselves as champions of family traditions and good customs. However, a simple internet search reveals that almost all recent cases of moral decay involve people strongly associated with Bolsonaro. Despite this, they persist in claiming that they are engaged in a relentless war in defense of family, morality, and good customs.
Regarding religion, the Bolsonaro supporter is a typical enemy of everything that the figure of Jesus symbolizes. If the name of Jesus is intrinsically linked to justice, solidarity, fraternity, peace, and love, the motivation that drives Bolsonaro supporters goes in a diametrically opposed direction. Bolsonaro supporters live for hatred, oppression, war, injustice, and selfishness. If in his life's legacy Jesus taught us to share bread and support the most needy, Bolsonaro supporters, in turn, worship the diabolical theology of prosperity, that is, the ideology with which its followers cling to their petty, selfish interests. In other words, there is no possibility of being a follower of Jesus based on this inhumane way of thinking.
Lately, it has become evident that the support base for Bolsonaro's political movement is largely made up of followers of churches that call themselves Christian, both evangelical and Catholic denominations. How can one accept that a true Christian could also be a staunch Bolsonaro supporter? There is an insurmountable contradiction between these two categories. Just as no one can serve God and the devil at the same time, there is no possibility of being right with both Jesus and Bolsonaro. Bolsonaroism embodies the perversity against which Jesus always fought.
No sane person would deny that the tenets of the infamous prosperity theology go entirely against everything Jesus ever preached in his life. Those who dare to defend Bolsonaro's ideology in the name of Jesus know that they are acting surreptitiously to instill in the most unsuspecting values that have much more to do with the inherent evil of savage capitalism, with the essence of Nazism, that is, of Bolsonaro's ideology.
Therefore, we must not allow any Bolsonaro supporter to use manipulation to impose interests that threaten the entire nation. Our people aspire to a world of justice, solidarity, support for the most needy, love, and peace. To contribute to the struggle towards these goals, we must wage a strong battle against the prejudices of Nazism and its Brazilian version, Bolsonarism. Despite its distorted use of language, Bolsonarism is characterized by its inherent evil.
All of us interested in the study of language are aware of the power that words exert over our own minds. Often, they are used for self-deception, seeking to justify a position in favor of causes we know are not worthy. In light of this, it is up to each of us to unmask the hypocrisy practiced by Bolsonaro supporters in their attempt to soothe their consciences in the face of the atrocities induced by their evil practices.
