The corruption of the vote
In short, Bolsonaro's supporters are turning these elections into a no-holds-barred MMA fight, a free-for-all that disregards the Constitution and the laws.
Some cases of attempted vote buying have been uncovered, but how many cases haven't? It's difficult to calculate. However, it's reasonable to assume that many may have existed; after all, vote buying has always existed, if not directly, then through the bribery of campaign workers.
Given that the candidate is corrupt, his family is dishonest, and his government is rife with fraud, corruption must be extremely high.
Accusations are usually made after the fact; they may even punish the corruptor quickly, however, there is no way to undo those votes.
We need to stamp on the forehead of the genocidal leader that he is corrupt, a false patriot, a false Christian, without compassion for others (he gloats over the misfortunes of others), misogynistic, homophobic, and prejudiced against blacks, indigenous people, and people from the Northeast of Brazil.
To denounce exhaustively that Bolsonarism has a power project to transform the democratic state into an autocratic state whose form of government will be a kleptocracy, which will remain in power through corruption and theft.
There is already a Bolsonaro-aligned plan to dominate the Judiciary as well. By winning the elections, securing a majority in Congress, and approving the plan to increase the number of Supreme Court justices, we will be in an institutional dictatorship – the worst kind, because there will be nowhere to appeal.
In short, Bolsonaro's movement is turning these elections into a no-holds-barred MMA fight, a free-for-all that defies the Constitution and the laws.
If any poll puts him in the lead, and he doesn't win, then there's grounds for an insurgency.
A lot of money flowed into the Bolsonaro campaign, and the secret budget fueled this corruption. Just like the wealthy, such as Guedes and his rent-seeking partners, must have been lavish with their money.
In this second round, it is reasonable to speculate that the commercialization of votes will double, triple.
There are so many questions and reflections that engineering analyses of completed projects, at the moment, do not contribute, unless accompanied by proposals for this second round; otherwise, it remains criticism for criticism's sake, sterile for the circumstances.
Many recent endorsements of Lula do not translate into votes; they are messages to the market and to the still-reclusive right wing, aimed at disarming anti-PT and anti-Lula prejudice and prioritizing the nation over its capitalist interests.
Social responsibility takes precedence over fiscal responsibility, just as popular sovereignty is paramount, because, as the first article of the Constitution states, "all power emanates from the people...", therefore, meeting the needs of the people is paramount.
Those earning 2 to 5 minimum wages should be the priority target of this campaign. This segment suffered during the pandemic, from the real devaluation of wages, the erosion of labor rights, increases in health insurance plans, increases in gasoline and rent, greater difficulties in acquiring their own home and car, and suffers from a lack of security in the face of militias, Bolsonaro-supporting police officers, and drug trafficking.
It is the segment of the poor and middle class that lives on the border between declining or reaching the upper middle class.
To speak to the 33 million unemployed and hungry people, and explain the causes and what will be done immediately to reverse the situation.
To speak to society in general about what a Brazil of hope will be like, the people also need to dream and know that it is possible to build this project.
I insist that it's a waste for Alckmin to always be by Lula's side. He should focus his efforts on São Paulo and a little on the south of the country.
And Lula prioritized Minas Gerais and the Northeast, speaking especially to the starving and to those middle classes earning 2 to 5 minimum wages.
In Rio, the election campaign may fall under the direction of Paes and the Maias, together with the Brazil Front of Hope.
United activists could organize a massive outreach effort, a sweep through the neighborhoods, to win over voters who are still deluded, undecided, and abstained from voting in the first round.
Never abandon the fight. We of the "Generation of '68" fought until the fall of the dictatorship. Flight is the dwelling place of the weak! Brazil belongs to its people.
There is no need to fear or show fear of fascists. The streets are our stage for fighting against Bolsonaro's ideology.
To the struggle, to the streets, fighters for democracy, with history in our minds and the certainty of victory in our hearts.
