The coup plotters' rush to hand over Brazil.

The president of the Workers' Party (PT), Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, criticizes the government's haste, which last week approved in the Chamber of Deputies the urgency for the bill authorizing the sale of up to 70% of the pre-salt area, corresponding to the so-called "onerous transfer"; "Why such a rush to liquidate national assets? Why not wait for a legitimate government, elected by the majority, to decide on these issues? Because they know that the time for the coup is running out," says Gleisi.

Last week, the country was surprised by the vote in the Chamber of Deputies on the urgency of the bill authorizing the sale of up to 70% of the pre-salt area, corresponding to the so-called "onerous transfer." These are the gigantic reserves that the Union ceded in advance to Petrobras in 2010 to capitalize the company.

The sale of reserves by Petrobras, as foreseen in the project, is the fastest way to transfer a treasure trove that could contain up to 15 billion barrels of oil equivalent to multinational oil companies. It is also a way to circumvent the production-sharing regime, increasing foreign profits.

In addition to handing over our greatest asset to foreign interests, the bill is yet another step by the coup government to reduce Petrobras' assets, facilitating its privatization. The sellout Pedro Parente left the company, but his policy of destroying Petrobras continues.

A topic of this importance cannot be dealt with hastily, with surprise votes and urgent processing in the National Congress. It is the same frantic and irresponsible speed that they tried to apply to the sales of BR Distribuidora, Liquigás, and the Gas Pipeline, all suspended by the courts, and that they are trying to apply to the privatization of Eletrobras.

Why the rush to liquidate national assets? Why not wait for a legitimate government, elected by the majority, to decide on these issues? Because they know the time for a coup is running out.

Without legitimacy, without political authority, without a national project, and without a candidate capable of being approved in elections, the government is rushing to deliver the promised goods to the economic interests, both national and especially foreign, that supported the impeachment coup of 2016.

They lied a lot to the country, but the moment of truth is coming. The people realized they were deceived and only trust in one way out of the crisis: Lula as president. Because he led the best government in Brazilian history, the only one that looked first and foremost to the poorest and the workers. And you can be sure, a Lula government will never allow the destruction to continue.
