Technological China
"China is the brave new world!", says Arnóbio Rocha.
To say that the Chinese AI, DeepSeek, is better because of its low cost is to reduce quality to price. The fact is that China has reached a level of quality in its products not because of abundant labor, but because of astonishing technological advancement, ingenuity, political decision-making, and strategic vision.
In 1996, China created two telecommunications infrastructure companies, Huawei and ZTE, without ever having produced a telephone exchange. Ten years later, Huawei was already competing in the global market with ingenious and futuristic equipment, with an incredible capacity for adaptation to the sector. More than ten years later, Huawei has become the most important company in the world in 5G, the cutting-edge technology in mobile cellular telephony.
The future of the fusion of telecommunications, computing, and the Internet, which produces not only equipment but also software and algorithms, lies in China, according to DeepSeek, while the US thought it was regaining technological leadership with its AIs. After the 5G thrashing, China is beating them once again.
I repeat, this has nothing to do with low cost; it has to do with high quality and technological advancement, which is what makes it low-cost. Otherwise, it seems like China only wins this race through quantity. That's not the case. It's due to the enormous quality.
China is a brave new world!
