The dream alliance against the Big Bloc.

Journalist Alex Solnik observes that "there are already whispers and rumors that Ciro is being advised (probably by his brother) to talk to Marina"; and predicts: "the mere fact that the two of them ally won't keep Alckmin awake at night, but if Lula and the PSB join them, with Lula, of course, leading the alliance, for all the reasons in the world, it becomes an unbeatable alliance, the dream alliance, a dream team. Alckmin will go back to being a minor candidate."

The dream alliance against the Big Bloc.

I think the news that Alckmin has practically sealed a major alliance with DEM, PP, SD, PR, PRB, and PPS has caused quite a stir. It created a new situation. It consolidated his candidacy. If what was agreed upon next week is confirmed, no one will be able to say he will be Christianized anymore. Like a phoenix, Alckmin has risen from the ashes.

Although among these allies, many who were once allies of Temer have a less than recommendable past and present, including those involved in the Lava Jato corruption scandal and similar operations, they will add significant airtime to Alckmin's campaign. He will have almost half of the total time.

That's true, a lot of airtime doesn't always mean an advantage, but in a country addicted to television, elections are decided on TV. And whoever gets the most screen time ends up being, for many, the most important.

With more time, he will also be able to both attack adversaries and defend against attacks. And he will need to. Because this alliance will be bombarded from all sides.

Nor can we disregard the fact that these political bosses, however corrupt they may be, have regional power. They control their political base. They are powerful campaign organizers. They demand a high price, of course, but that's a matter for Alckmin to decide.

Everything indicates that, with this alliance, Alckmin will defeat Bolsonaro, the lone gunman, and position himself to compete in the second round against the other side. In the last seven elections, whenever there was a second round, it was between the left and the right. Nothing suggests that this time will be different.

The left, which reacted immediately to the announcement of the alliance, focusing its attacks on the PSDB candidate, understanding that he has become a dangerous candidate, nevertheless has a major trump card in its hands.

There are already whispers and rumors that Ciro is being advised (probably by his brother) to talk to Marina. She has a lot of support, but no allies, a tiny party, and very little TV time.

The mere fact that those two are allied won't keep Alckmin up at night, but if Lula and the PSB join them, with Lula, of course, leading the alliance, for every reason in the world, it becomes an unbeatable alliance, a dream alliance, a dream team. Alckmin will once again be a minor candidate.

Lula is leading in the polls, and the PT has the most TV time. It's fair that he should head the ticket. Beyond that, the four parties need to talk. PSB and PT need to resolve the issue in Pernambuco, where each has its own gubernatorial candidate. There's another issue in São Paulo, where the current governor, Márcio França, has already committed to supporting Alckmin. But I don't believe it's worth sacrificing a major national agreement for a lost election in São Paulo.

I know it's a difficult alliance; Ciro has problems with the PT and vice-versa, Marina too, but we need to choose priorities. I think the priority is to defeat the right wing, to end the coup as soon as possible. In the first round. To quickly raise the morale of Brazilians.

So, the conflicts of the past must be buried in the name of the greater project, that is, to take away from the right what remains of the national patrimony before everything is sold off.

And this is the path that doesn't depend on whether Lula is released or not, or becomes ineligible or not. Because he will be on the winning ticket either way.
