247 - Tensions between Argentina's president, Javier Milei, and vice president, Victoria Villarruel, have reached a critical point in recent days.
The trigger was last Thursday (10), when Villarruel, who also leads the Senate, authorized a session that approved an emergency readjustment of 7,2% in pensions — a measure that increases public spending and contradicts the fiscal agenda of the Milei government. The decision generated a reaction from ministers and allies of the president, who accuse the vice president of acting without legal backing.
Villarruel defended his stance and said that senators have the autonomy to convene sessions, denying that he had betrayed the government. Milei, on the other hand, shared attacks against the vice president on social media, publicly expressing her disapproval of her.
In response, Villarruel also took to social media, suggesting that the president should cut spending on travel and the intelligence service. She further stated that Milei needs to behave like an adult to discuss public policy.
