The statement was made during the Great Enlistment and Call to the Ranks of the Bolivarian Militia, an event held in several cities across the country, according to Telesur.
Rodríguez highlighted that thousands of citizens responded to the call to action, gathering in Bolívar Squares throughout the country to reinforce their commitment to independence and peace. According to the vice-president, the massive participation of the population is a direct response to the political and military pressure from the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who has intensified threats against the Venezuelan government.
Defense of sovereignty and historical legacy.
In her speech, Delcy Rodríguez emphasized that sovereignty is not surrendered, but defended through peace. "Defending independence is a daily task, not a task from 200 years ago," she stated, recalling that the Venezuelan people have already faced attempted coups, economic sabotage, and episodes of political violence.
The vice-president also highlighted the mobilization in various sectors, such as factories, public offices, and production centers, describing it as "an expression of commitment to self-determination and independence, a legacy of the Bolivarian heroes."
Maduro calls for national unity.
President Nicolás Maduro also reinforced the importance of unity in defense of the homeland, highlighting that Venezuela's true wealth goes beyond its natural resources. "More than oil, iron, gold, or gas, our strength lies in the moral, spiritual, and ethical heritage of our liberators," he declared.
Maduro appealed to the population to overcome political differences and unite under the national flag: "This is not a time for political differences or colors, because only one flag covers us: yellow, blue, and red."
