Venezuela honors mothers who were victims of fascism and announces the creation of the Women Heroines Movement.
The proposal was presented by one of the mothers of the 252 Venezuelans rescued from the concentration camp in El Salvador.
José Reinaldo Carvalho, from Caracas, 247 - Culminating a week full of international anti-fascist and anti-imperialist events, the International Meeting of Mothers of Victims of Fascism took place this Saturday (27) in Caracas, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the presence of the mothers of the 252 young Venezuelans who were imprisoned for four months in CECOT (Center for the Confinement of Terrorism). CECOT is a veritable concentration camp created by the neo-fascist government of Najib Bukele.
At the event, Karlyn Fuentes, mother of one of these young people, presented a proposal to create the Heroine Women Movement, to fight for the rights of Venezuelans who emigrate abroad. In her speech at the meeting, Karlin shared the difficult experience that all the mothers of the 252 young people and their families faced while they remained kidnapped in El Salvador.
"We want a movement for all mothers, not just the 252," she said, highlighting the need to fight to prevent any Venezuelan migrant in the world from suffering the abuses their children endured.
She expressed gratitude for the support the young people received from the national government, personally from President Nicolás Maduro and Vice Minister Camilla Fabri, who, as president of the Great Mission Return to the Homeland, coordinated the actions for the rescue of the young people and their return to the country. In a statement during the event, Camila Fabri noted: "It is possible to defeat fascism, and the voice rises when it finds a friend. To be a humanist is to reject the attacks of imperialism, which sees migrants as a problem to be eliminated."
President Nicolás Maduro addressed those present via telephone.
He expressed satisfaction with the proposal from the Venezuelan mothers and praised their struggle to free their children.
Argentine mother and activist Carmen Arias, president of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo Association, gave a speech to encourage all Venezuelan mothers, assuring them: "From now on, you should feel like heroic mothers to all migrants in the world."
Carmen Arias stated that these violations of migrants' human rights are part of the strategy of imperialist interests, which direct all their actions towards causing more hunger among the working classes and silencing all their struggles. She urged them to identify the political objectives of their struggles and to act.
"Don't give up. Imperialism wants us to remain trapped in pain and guilt. Find the political justification to transform this suffering into action."
Aleida Guevara March, daughter of the heroic commander Che Guevara, who participated in all the internationalist events of the week in Caracas, emphasized the need to fight daily for the mothers of Palestinian children massacred in Gaza.
The Deputy Minister of International Relations, Rander Peña, emphasized that the presence of the 252 young people that Venezuela managed to rescue is a clear demonstration of the solidarity and commitment of President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
