247 - During a press conference in Malaysia, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that Brazil is willing to collaborate in the search for a peaceful solution to the crisis in Venezuela, emphasizing the country's historical commitment to preserving peace in South America. "We will help with the Venezuela issue because South America must be maintained as a zone of peace," said Lula.

The president reported that he raised the issue of Venezuela in conversations he held with other leaders and noted that the situation in the neighboring country has been worsening. According to him, it is essential that the international community act with balance and respect for the sovereignty of the peoples of the region. In recent weeks, the United States has threatened to attack Venezuela, using the issue of drug trafficking as a pretext.

"It is important to take into account Brazil's experience," Lula stated, recalling that during his first term the country actively participated in the creation of the Group of Friends of Venezuela, a diplomatic initiative aimed at mediating conflicts and building political consensus.

Brazil's role as a mediator

Lula emphasized that Brazil is ready to help whenever necessary and reaffirmed the country's position as a zone of peace and dialogue. "If needed, we are available," said the president, reinforcing that South America should remain a continent of cooperation and integration, not confrontation.

The head of state concluded his statement by affirming that Brazil wants to maintain South America as a zone of peace, based on diplomacy, mutual respect, and the peaceful resolution of controversies, reaffirming Brazil's tradition of acting as a mediator in times of regional tension.
