Latin Press - Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero met on Tuesday (13) with the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, as part of the bilateral program he is developing in the context of the World Summit of Governments.

During the meeting, Marrero stated that Africa is an essential part of the Caribbean nation's history and, therefore, "we never hesitate to extend our solidarity to these sister nations."

He recalled that Cuba has always supported the cause of African countries, ever since its fight against apartheid. "This vision was taught to us by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, consolidated by Army General Raúl Castro, and maintained by President Miguel Díaz-Canel."

The Prime Minister also met with the administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Achim Steiner, who praised Cuba's work in promoting incentives to foster development and highlighted the coordinated way in which we work with the UNDP.

During the dialogue, the commitment to continue collaboration with the Caribbean nation was ratified, not only in emergency aid, but also in long-term projects in the health and biotechnology sectors, according to the official report from the island's government on the X network.

Marrero also spoke on Tuesday with Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, director general of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, an institution that has been supporting the Caribbean nation with funding for high-impact social projects.

The meeting ratified the continuation of projects related to the hydraulic and energy sectors.

Highlights included the rehabilitation of the water supply network in southern Havana and the generation of energy from renewable sources at Isla de la Juventud and the University of Las Villas.

Political ties between Cuba and the United Arab Emirates are strong, highlighted Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, who stated that the economic institution under his responsibility will continue to provide support to strengthen bilateral relations.

The director from the Emirates expressed interest in investing in the areas of tourism and agriculture.
