Milei revokes decree that increased her own salary.
The far-right president also decided to attack the left in Argentina.
247 - Argentine President Javier Milei announced on Saturday (9) the revocation of a decree that increased his salary. High-ranking government officials were also included.
The far-right leader decided to attack former presidents Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner. "The inherited situation (from the previous government) is critical and Argentinians are making a heroic sacrifice," he said in the statement.
Since taking office, Milei has been cutting spending, ministries, and tightening monetary policy. The president advocates for the dollarization of the economy, which jeopardizes Argentina's sovereignty over its own monetary policy. The far-right leader also advocates for less public investment.
Milei says it's necessary to combat inflation by opening the market to the inflow of dollars (the greater the amount of US dollars in a country, the lower its value). Argentina ended January with inflation above 250%.
