Milei imitates Trump and wants a "wall" on the border with Brazil.
The Argentine president wants to implement a measure similar to what the American government intends to build on the border with Mexico.
247 - A lackey of US President Donald Trump, the far-right Argentinian Javier Milei wants to reinforce controls on the border with Brazil. The president of the South American country and his team gave this information after announcing the construction of a wall on the border with Bolivia, similar to the one the US government built on the border with Mexico.
Argentina's Security Minister, Patricia Bullrich, commented on the measure. "In addition to Bolivia, we plan to expand (this policy) to other border points. Now, we are going to the border in Misiones with Brazil, which is a border where you enter the country on foot in many places, and where we have had murders and problems," the minister declared to the Argentine radio station Mitre.
Authorities in a city in the province of Salta, in northern Argentina, announced on the 24th that they would launch a tender for the construction of a 200-meter-long fence on the border with Bolivia, in partnership with the Milei government. The objective is to combat illegal crossings of people and smuggling.
The cities targeted by the actions are located approximately 1.600 km from Buenos Aires.
The interim mayor of the city of Aguas Blancas, Adrián Zigaran, also confirmed the proposal. "The construction of a linear fence has been requested [...] to prevent people from reaching the city without going through immigration," he said.
