247 - Argentine President Javier Milei is facing a wave of legal accusations for his involvement in the $Libra cryptocurrency scandal. As of Sunday, 112 criminal complaints had been filed, including allegations of fraud, illicit dealings in public office, ethical violations, and criminal conspiracy.

Complaints are multiplying.

Judicial sources reported that 111 of these complaints were registered digitally in different courts across the country, while one was formally filed in person at a police station in Buenos Aires, according to a Telesur report. The case was forwarded to prosecutor Guillermo Marijuan.

The accusations were made both by victims of the scam and by figures from the political opposition, who maintain that Milei had an active role in the scheme. The main piece of evidence cited is that the president recommended investments in the cryptocurrency just three minutes after its public launch, through a post on social media.

For the whistleblowers, the claim that Milei only made a "mistake" out of enthusiasm is unconvincing. Furthermore, they highlight the direct links between the developers of Libra and members of the president's political group, La Libertad Avanza.

The expectation is that, this Monday (17), the courts will hold a draw to define which federal instance will conduct the process of the more than 100 complaints.

Collective action in court

The leader of the Frente Patria Grande, Juan Grabois, announced that he will support a class-action lawsuit in civil court against Milei, seeking compensation for those affected by the scheme. According to him, more than 20 victims have already joined the lawsuit, which will be filed in both Argentina and the United States.

“What we need to demonstrate is that we are not afraid,” Grabois declared. “Fear spreads, but so does courage. If we don’t confront this situation, they will continue committing endless abuses.”

In the same context, Congressman Itai Hagman stated that he will also file a criminal complaint against Milei for illicit dealings while in public office, alleging that the president intervened directly in his own favor or on behalf of third parties.

Another prominent name in the legal offensive against Milei is Gregorio Dalbón, lawyer for former president Cristina Fernández, who signed one of the more than 100 complaints already filed. Dalbón refuted Milei's claim that he was unaware of the project's details and emphasized that the president publicly promoted $Libra at the exact moment of its launch.

Impeachment request

The scandal has also taken on broader political dimensions. The parliamentary bloc of the Union for the Fatherland (UxP) announced that it will present a formal impeachment request against Milei. Deputy Esteban Paulon, from the province of Santa Fe, confirmed that he will file the request next Monday, reinforcing the accusations against the president for the mega cryptocurrency scam involving $Libra.

The crisis generated by the case is already shaking Milei's administration, increasing the political and legal pressure on her government.
