Maduro will hold a series of debates on constitutional reform this Tuesday.

Venezuelan president says reform will modernize and improve the 1999 Constitution.

Latin Press - Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is holding an intense working day this Tuesday (25) with the four commissions created to promote and lead the debates on the reform of the 1999 Constitution.

During the broadcast of his weekly television program "Con Maduro Mais," the president announced that he and the committees would meet intensively throughout the day, "to begin preparing the proposal."

He praised the fact that "a beautiful and protective Constitution allows these processes to take place, especially at the precise moment we are carrying them out, and with a conscious, educated, and organized population."

Regarding the committees, he said that the first one will be coordinated by the president of the National Assembly (Parliament), Jorge Rodríguez, and will be related to the Transformation, Modernization, and Democratic Expansion of Venezuela.

Attorney General Tarek William Saab will act as coordinator of the second group, which will focus on the Principles and Values ​​of the New Society, based on "the principles and values ​​of the Constitution, which are very advanced," said the president.

Parliamentarian and jurist Cilia Flores will lead the third General Update Committee on emerging ideas, while Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez will be responsible for the fourth, concerning the New Economic Model, she informed.

Maduro said that the country has grown despite sanctions (which total more than a thousand according to official data) and the economic war, and that "Venezuela is advancing economically through its own efforts and nothing and no one will stop us."

The president considered it important that everyone be attentive and participate, and assured that "the doors are open to all, and those who yesterday did not believe and today say they believe, are welcome to the debate and to the construction because Venezuela belongs to all of us and we all have a place."

He said he was very motivated by this process, which leaves him "super energized, because I believe that society can continue to update itself, improve, modernize and get even better with our Constitution."
