247 - Argentina's monthly inflation rate accelerated to 2,4% in February, in line with analysts' estimates, according to data from the official statistics agency Indec released this Friday (14).

This represents an acceleration compared to the 2,2% recorded in January, as expenses for housing and utilities increased by almost 4%.

Inflation in the 12 months to February reached 66,9%, slowing from the 84,5% rate recorded in the previous month, but slightly above the expectations of analysts consulted by Reuters.

Under the far-right government of Javier Milei, inflation slowed from previous triple digits, amid harsh and divisive austerity measures by the administration, which fueled mass protests.

Annual inflation in South America's second-largest economy reached nearly 300% at the beginning of last year, but has since fallen to double digits, and analysts consulted by the central bank predict that inflation by the end of 2025 will fall to 23,3%. (With information from...) Reuters).
