247 - Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) highlighted this Monday (15), upon assuming the presidency of the Mercosur Parliament (Parlasul), that “fascism” and “coup-mongering” need to be fought among South American countries.
“The defense of democracy must be affirmed with courage. Brazil has set an example to the world by judging and holding Bolsonaro and his criminal organization accountable. Democracy on the continent is non-negotiable,” the parliamentarian said in Montevideo.
The Workers' Party member took the opportunity to advocate for progress in negotiations to conclude the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. "A strategic project that can open new markets. It must be a balanced agreement that respects our development needs."
The Parlasur meeting was attended by parliamentarians from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia.
