Continental meeting in solidarity with Cuba concludes successfully in Mexico City.

The event brought together delegates from 25 countries to discuss blockades, regional integration, and the challenges of the media war.

247 - The Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba ended its activities this Saturday (11) in Mexico City, bringing together hundreds of delegates from 25 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as representatives from Spain, Lebanon and the United States.

Brazil sent 17 delegates, including six from Cebrapaz and the José Martí Cultural Association of Bahia.

The event, held since Thursday at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, aimed to outline new lines of action to strengthen international support for the Caribbean island.

One of them focused on strategies to broaden solidarity with Cuba, combat the blockade imposed by Washington, and demand that the country be removed from the unilateral list of so-called "sponsors of terrorism." Other groups discussed economic cooperation, the challenges of regional integration, and disinformation campaigns targeting the Cuban government.

Conferences and tributes

On the final day of debates, the conference “Fidel and Latin American and Caribbean Unity” featured prominent figures such as the Brazilian theologian Frei Betto. Additionally, a book was launched. On the Wings of the Condor, by Cuban researcher Fabián Escalante, which recovers historical episodes of the relations between Latin American progressive movements.

On Friday, Johana Tablada, Deputy Director General of the United States Directorate at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed the impact of the economic blockade on the lives of the Cuban population. The program also included conferences dedicated to the role of youth in guaranteeing the continuity of the Revolution and in resisting the media war.

Sports and culture present

Five-time Olympic champion Mijaín López was one of the special guests at the event. During his participation, he answered questions from delegates about his career, covering everything from his childhood to the challenges of his athletic training. His presence symbolized the strength of Cuban sport as a tool for identity and unity.

Over the course of four days, the meeting highlighted the international coordination of social, academic, religious, and political movements committed to defending Cuba in the face of the US blockade and hostility. The focus of the discussions was the pursuit of greater regional integration and the construction of joint strategies to confront the war of narratives that, according to the organizers, seeks to isolate the Caribbean island on the international stage.
