The Head of State participated in the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba.
247 - Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said on Tuesday (2) that Cuba’s challenges are great, but the alternative will never be surrender, reports Prensa Latina.
"We continue with open hearts, they shot at us to kill and here we are," Díaz-Canel stated, summarizing his participation in one of the commissions of the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba and Anti-Imperialists, 200 years after the Monroe Doctrine, which is being held at the Havana Convention Palace.
After listening to speakers from diverse backgrounds, the Cuban president praised the values that exalt his people, who every day give lessons in creativity, resilience, dignity, and heroism.
He said that everything can be achieved through unity and denounced the media war that "has intensified in recent years with arrogance and much hatred."
He warned against cultural colonization programs in a context of ideological battle where unity is important.
The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba also praised what can be done in difficult times like the current one, imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
When the United States intensified the blockade and denied everything, Cuba, with its own strategy and production of vaccines and ventilators, managed to overcome the epidemiological situation.
In this regard, he highlighted the leading role of young people who participated in the red zone (in attending to the most seriously ill patients), in the neighborhoods, those involved in the economy, and those fighting against infamy and slander on social media.
Díaz-Canel participated in Commission Number 1 of the Meeting: "Anti-imperialist Unity and 200 Years of the Monroe Doctrine".
"There is an imperialist logic of hegemony and domination," warned the head of state, referring to the validity of this doctrine with its motto "America for the Americans."
Furthermore, he confirmed that on May 5th there will be parades and rallies to commemorate International Workers' Day, the celebration of which had to be postponed due to weather conditions.
The meeting was attended by more than a thousand delegates from five continents and about 200 national representatives.
