247 - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Sunday (9) that during Donald Trump's administration, respect, dialogue and collaboration will prevail in relations between the two countries. The statement was made during a public event at the Zócalo in Mexico City, reports the newspaper La Jornada.

Sheinbaum emphasized that her government will not relinquish Mexican sovereignty and is committed to protecting the population from external decisions that could harm the country. "We have always expressed this with conviction: Mexico is a great country, with a dignified and courageous people. (With the United States) we are nations on equal terms; we are not more, but we are also not less," the president stated.

She assured that Mexico will continue to collaborate to prevent synthetic drugs, such as fentanyl, from reaching young Americans, highlighting the humanitarian issue involved.

Sheinbaum also celebrated the good relationship between Mexico and the United States, highlighting that recent negotiations resulted in the suspension of tariffs that were being applied to Mexican products exported to the neighboring country.

Confident that mutual respect will be maintained, the president called on the Mexican population to remain vigilant should new mobilizations be necessary to defend national interests.
