RNA - Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) presented his government's fourth report on Thursday, highlighting the reduction in inequality and poverty, the increase in the number of people enrolled in social security, and social assistance programs for older adults.

He emphasized that financial stability was achieved without having to raise taxes, increase fuel prices, or indebt the country despite inflation. He stressed that thanks to this, the agricultural sector grew and the population's quality of life improved.

"I am absolutely convinced, and I hope this can be shared with more people in Mexico and around the world, that peace is the fruit of justice and that the key to achieving tranquility lies in caring for young people, the most vulnerable and marginalized from the benefits of development," he emphasized.

Regarding crime, the Mexican president said that it decreased by 23,4% compared to last year, as did homicides (10,4% less). "Perhaps some don't know this because of the tabloid media campaign that is working against us," he stated.

He then indicated that the data presented reaffirm "his thesis" that economic growth alone is not enough, but that justice is also "indispensable in the new economic, moral and social policy" that has been expanded since the beginning of his government. "We believe that what is fundamental is not quantitative, but qualitative," he added.

He defended his proposal to transfer the National Guard to the Ministry of Defense "so that it does not become corrupt like what happened with the old Federal Police."

“The objective is not to militarize or move towards authoritarianism, but to accompany the healthy growth of the country's main public security institution. Let no one pretend not to know, the violation of human rights is not permitted. The authority is not complicit in or a cover-up for, nor does it execute torture and massacres. Relationships of complicity with anyone are not permitted. Impunity is being combated, and there is every will to ensure that all those who commit crimes are not left unpunished,” he stated.

On the other hand, AMLO stated that the purpose of the State is to create suitable conditions for citizens to "live happily," for economic growth and productivity to achieve material well-being and the well-being of the soul.

"It is important to state that beyond simple economic growth, the fundamental issue is to banish corruption and privileges in order to apply it to benefits for the people, and especially for the poorest and most marginalized," he emphasized.

Finally, he emphasized that in Mexico "the oligarchy no longer dominates"; "corruption is not tolerated and there is no impunity"; "tax privileges have ended"; "there are no luxuries in the government"; the country "is recovering its prestige in the world"; "the State has ceased to be the main violator of human rights"; "there is religious freedom and the State is secular." "The greatest wealth of the country is the honesty of its people," he said.
