Ministers presented a plan to strengthen the country's port, road, and rail infrastructure, aiming to optimize the flow of the grain harvest.
247 - Brazilian ports play an essential role in the national economy, being the main entry and exit points for foreign trade. This was the message highlighted by the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, during the launch ceremony of the 2024/2025 Crop Flow Plan, held this Wednesday (5). Alongside Ministers Renan Filho (Transport) and Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture and Livestock), Costa Filho presented a set of strategic measures aimed at optimizing the flow of the grain harvest, highlighting the modernization of the country's port, road and rail infrastructure.
The plan, which is part of the New PAC (Growth Acceleration Program), foresees robust investments to ensure that Brazilian agricultural production, estimated at 322,47 million tons, is transported more efficiently and at a lower cost, strengthening the competitiveness of the national agribusiness sector. Among the initiatives announced are projects aimed at improving logistics infrastructure in the North region, with emphasis on the implementation and expansion of terminals in the Port of Porto Velho (RO) and the Port of Santarém (PA), as well as studies for the recovery of the floating dock at the Port of Porto Velho.
Silvio Costa Filho took the opportunity to celebrate the positive moment in the Brazilian economy, highlighting the balance of public accounts, the recovery of confidence in the financial market, and the approval of the tax reform. "We are experiencing one of the best moments in the economy, with job creation and the lowest unemployment rate in history, all of which is mainly due to the strength of Brazilian agribusiness," he stated.
Carlos Fávaro emphasized the importance of the initiative for the success of agribusiness, highlighting the strength of Brazilian agricultural production and entrepreneurs. "The result of this is economic growth and increased opportunities," he said.
In turn, Renan Filho reflected on the growth prospects for 2025, highlighting Brazil's transformation and the strength of the agricultural sector, particularly the record soybean harvests. "Brazil is a country in full swing, which has grown 6,8% in the last two years, and it is the growth of our economy that drives this movement," he concluded.
