Abiec sees risk to exports and the global market after the US announces a 50% tariff against Brazil.
The Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries warned of the damage to 'productive sectors' in the country.
SAO PAULO (Reuters) Any increase in tariffs on Brazilian products will negatively impact the beef production sector and represent an obstacle to international trade, the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (Abiec) assessed this Wednesday, commenting on the 50% tariff announced by US President Donald Trump on Brazil.
The association, which includes JBS, Marfrig, and Minerva among its members, said in a statement that it remains attentive and available to contribute to the dialogue, "so that measures of this nature do not generate impacts for the Brazilian productive sectors or for American consumers."
