247 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, warned this week (7) about the global repercussions if the President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican Party), is advancing the idea of taking control of the Gaza Strip, where the strength of Israel—a historic ally of the United States—is committing a genocide that, according to official figures, is has caused the death of more than 55.000 people in Palestinian territory in the last 16 months.

According to the Brazilian canciller, it is projected on the global order "the spectrum of the strongest law." "There are even astonishing examples of this, such as the recent proposal to exile the entire population of Gaza, in flagrant violation of the most basic principles of international law, arduously consolidated over the last 80 years", stated Vieira in a speech at the Fundación Getulio Vargas (FGV-RJ).

"The defense of the solution of the States is the most important at this moment in which, as the Secretary General of the United Nations recently stated, we should not worsen the problem of Gaza by trying to solve it", he added.

The minister said that the world is "before the concrete consequences of the prolonged crisis of the World Trade Organization and the paralysis of its dispute resolution system."

"And a certain type of bilateral, trilateral and plurilateral free trade agreements—persistently and exaggeratedly promoted as an alternative to multilateral advancement in the commercial sphere—has not been demonstrated to be a better option in terms of predictability. On the contrary: they can expose even more of their signatories to vulnerability", concluded.
